Telangana Govt clears Rs 10,000 cr in employee dues, promises regular payments

Hyderabad, Mar 7 (Reporter) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu assured government employees that they no longer need to struggle for their pending dues. Speaking at the government employees' JAC meeting at the Secretariat on Friday, he announced that the government has cleared Rs 10,000 crore worth of dues, including old and new pending bills. He stated that the previous administration had left Rs 5,000 crore in unpaid bills, which the current government has been settling over the past 14 months. While Rs 8,000 crore in dues still remain, the government has committed to clearing Rs 500 to Rs 600 crore every month starting April, prioritising payments systematically. Highlighting a key achievement, the Deputy CM pointed out that for the past decade, government employees faced uncertainty regarding their salary payments. However, despite financial challenges, the new government has ensured that salaries and allowances are now paid on the first of every month to the state's 13 lakh employees, pensioners, contractors, and outsourced staff. He assured employees that only bills related to retirement benefits, medical expenses, and similar dues remain pending and will be settled soon. Additionally, a dedicated cabinet committee has been formed to address non-monetary employee issues, reinforcing the government's pro-employee approach.
