Hyderabad, Mar 9 (Reporter) In a historic move, the Telangana government has allocated Rs 11,600 crore for the construction of 55 Young India Integrated Residential Schools with international standards, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced on Sunday.
Speaking at a media conference at the Ministerial Quarters in Hyderabad, Bhatti Vikramarka emphasised that these schools aim to provide high-quality education to students from poor, marginalized, and middle-class backgrounds.
He stated that no private institution in the country matches the comprehensive facilities of these government-initiated residential schools.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who oversees the Education Department, recently issued orders allocating funds for 55 such schools. Three schools had already been sanctioned in recent months as part of the government’s vision to revolutionise education in the state.
These schools will be built on sprawling 20 to 25-acre campuses and will feature world-class amenities, including digital classrooms, laboratories, libraries, mini-theaters, and a state-of-the-art sports complex. Additionally, dedicated housing facilities will be provided for teachers. The syllabus is being designed to equip students with the skills needed to compete globally.
Bhatti Vikramarka credited Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge for their vision of social change and equitable education. He stressed that despite financial constraints, the government remains committed to using public funds to uplift the lives of the underprivileged.
