Telangana: ACB nabs TRANSCO Assistant Engineer in Kamareddy for accepting bribe

Hyderabad, Jan 9 (Reporter) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Telangana apprehended Assistant Engineer (AE), TRANSCO, Kamareddy, red-handed on Monday, as he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 12,500. At 1525 hours, the accused officer, Sayani Raju, was trapped red-handed while demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs. 12,500 from the complainant, Kunta Bhairava of Utnoor Village in the same district. The exchange took place through Santosh, the owner of Ever Green Xerox Shop, located near Kamareddy Bus Stop on the National Highway. The bribe was solicited for facilitating the processing of Transport Hire Vehicle bills amounting to Rs 9,000, along with an additional Rs. 3,500 as a reward for handling previous bills, an ACB statement said on Tuesday. The entire tainted amount of Rs. 12,500 was recovered from the accused officer's trousers at the behest of the private person, Santosh, owner of Ever Green Xerox Shop. Subsequent tests on both hands and fingers of the accused indicated positive results. It was revealed that the accused officer, Sayani Raju, had acted improperly and dishonestly in the performance of his duty to gain an undue advantage. The involvement of the private person (owner of Ever Green Xerox Shop/Receiver of Bribe bribe amount) is currently under scrutiny.
