Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that Bhopal’s Upper Lake is an integral part of our rich heritage, and necessary steps should be taken for its conservation through proper surveys. Strict action should be taken against illegal constructions around the lake and structures obstructing water flow from Sehore into the lake. Officials must remain vigilant about construction activities near the lake and take immediate action against violations. These directives were given by the Chief Minister during a review meeting of the Environment Department at his residence. Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to the CM Dr. Rajesh Rajora, Environment Secretary Shri Navneet Mohan Kothari, and other officials were present at the meeting.

Dr. Yadav emphasized the need to keep the state's rivers and water bodies pollution-free by monitoring nearby industrial units. It must be ensured that industrial units treat their discharge on-site, and this rule should also be enforced for large hotels. In view of Simhastha-2028, continuous monitoring of Kshipra and Kahn rivers' water quality was mandated, along with public awareness campaigns. Universities should be involved in studying aquatic life, vegetation, and water quality. Mining activities near rivers must be controlled, and local bodies and rural development departments should be responsible for filling abandoned mining pits, which can be developed into ponds to improve groundwater levels.
