Bern, Dec 17 (Reporter) Switzerland's National Council, the lower house of parliament, has voted to ban the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah in the country by a majority vote, the parliament said on Tuesday.
Last week, the Swiss Senate voted to ban Hezbollah and Palestinian movement Hamas in the country, while the Swiss government opposed the ban on Hezbollah but supported the ban on Hamas.
"Following [the vote to ban] Palestinian organization Hamas, both houses of the Swiss parliament also want to ban the Lebanese Shiite armed movement Hezbollah. After the Council of States [Senate], the National Council has made the same decision," the parliament said in a statement.
The National Council adopted the corresponding motion by 126 votes to 20 with 41 abstentions. The proposals will now be sent to the Swiss government for implementation.
At present, Al-Qaeda and Islamic State (terrorist organizations, both banned in Russia) are banned in Switzerland at the legislative level...////...
