Suvendu demands expunge of 'Mrityu Kumbh” words from official records of Assembly

Kolkata, Feb 21 (Reporter) Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said he and the BJP legislators urged the West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose to use his good office to direct Speaker Biman Banerjee to expunge the words 'Mrityu Kumbh" from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement in the State Assembly. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee calls Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj as the " Mrityu Kumbh," following deaths of several people in a stampede. Meanwhile, the governor described the assembly at Maha Kumbh as " Mukti Mela" and " Mrintunjoy Mela," during his recent visit to Prayagraj. Adhikari said he led a BJP MLA delegation to the Governor at Raj Bhavan to register a protest against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's " derogatory and insensitive remark " and sought his intervention. " We appealed to the Governor to advise the WB Legislative Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee to have the disrespectful & slanderous word “Mrityu Kumbh” expunged from the official records of the Assembly," the Nandigram MLA said on his social media X handle on Friday.
