Chennai, Feb 6 (Reporter) In a big boost to the industrial development, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister inaugurated a Solar Cell and Module manufacturing facility and laid the foundation stone for
another plant involving a total investment of Rs 6,374 crores that would offer 6,500 jobs
opportunities in the southern Tirunelveli district on Thursday.
Mr Stalin, who is on an official visit to the district, to study to ground situation and launch various welfare measures and review the implementation of various welfare measures launched by the DMK's Dravidian Model government ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls, first inaugurated the
4.3 GW Solar Cell and Module manufacturing facility set up by Tata Power Solar Company, a subsidiary of Tata Group, with an investment of Rs 3,800 crore.
The facility, inaugurated at the Gangaikondan Sipcot Industrial Estate, would offer jobs to 4,000 people.
Next, Mr Stalin laid the Foundation stone for the 3 GW Solar Cell and 6 GW Module manufacturing facility being set up Vikram Solar Company with an investment of Rs 2,574 crore that would offer
jobs to 2,500 people.
An official release here said a majority of jobs in these facilities would be for women.
Stating that Tamil Nadu was the second largest economy in India and forefront in various sectors of manufacturing and exports, Mr Stalin TN was also the leading state in attracting highest investments providing huge number of jobs for women.
Tamil Nadu's performance was also praised in the 2024-25 Economic survey, he said, adding, the State government has been taking a number of steps to create jobs for youth and in attracting investments to attain the goal of making TN an one trillion USD economy by 2030...////...
