Chennai, Apr 7 (Reporter) Strongly condemning the Centre for the hike in cooking gas prices hike and the increase in excise duty on fuel despite reduction in crude oil prices globally and terming the BJP-led government as 'Sadist' Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin demanded its immediate rollback without waiting for the elections to approach. He said the centre should not harm the people even if it was not helping them. He flayed the Centre for pushing the people to a pitiful state of begging even if the petrol and diesel prices were not hiked, at a time when the prices of Crude Oil has fallen globally and demanded its immediate rollback. The Centre has rubbed salt in the wounds of the people by hiking the prices of cooking gas by (Rs 50) and slammed the BJP government of having a habit of increasing the prices dramatically and reducing them by a small amount when elections are approaching and people have become accustomed to this drama. In a post on X, Mr Stalin wrote "Should the stoves in the homes of the countrymen be burning? Or should their stomachs be burning?"
