Sri Lankan PM seeks Thai help to rescue citizens from cybercrime zone in Myanmar

Colombo, Oct 11 (Reporter) Sri Lankan on Friday requested the Thailand government to assist the island nation in rescuing its 40 citizens held captive in the cybercrime zone in the Myawaddy district in Myanmar, media reports said. This request was made during discussions between Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya and Thailand Ambassador Paitoon Mahapannaporn at the PM office, the Daily Mirror reported on Thursday. The rescue attempts from the Myanmar cybercrime zone is facilitated by the Myanmar Government and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The Sri Lankan PM expressed her gratitude for the assistance provided by the Thailand Government in rescuing 28 Sri Lankans from the cybercrime centres and requested continued support to rescue the 40 Sri Lankans still in these centres...////...
