New Delhi, May 1 (Reporter) Starting from the academic year 2024–25, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has implemented a 2% sports quota for admissions across various undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
This initiative aligns with the university's commitment to fostering sports and sportsmanship among its students.
Dr. Kamal Pathak, Registrar of GGSIPU, announced that 2% of the total intake for each programme will be reserved as supernumerary sports seats. These additional seats are in addition to those already outlined in the admission brochure.
Eligible candidates can opt for the sports quota during the application process. Under the first category, applicants who have represented India in recognised competitions, including the Summer Olympic Games, World Championship/World Cup, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and others, can apply by submitting their documents.
For the second category, candidates undergo sports trials, with admission criteria based on a combination of merit from applicable tests, evaluation of submitted documents, and performance in the sports trials.
This initiative aims to encourage and support talented sports enthusiasts in pursuing higher education while continuing their athletic pursuits...////...
