Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that sports activities are witnessing rapid growth in the country under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Players from Madhya Pradesh and other states are performing exceptionally well in the Olympics and Asian Games. India will soon host the Commonwealth Games, and it is hoped that in the future the privilege of hosting the Olympics will also come to India. If that happens, it will give a new direction and fresh momentum to the development and expansion of sports in Madhya Pradesh as well.
On Friday, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav virtually addressed a program organised under the ‘Fit India Movement’ at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Bhopal, on the occasion of National Sports Day.
Greeting the people of the state on the 120th birth anniversary of hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand, the Chief Minister said that Major Dhyan Chand lived his entire life for the nation. In 1936, he amazed the spectators by scoring three consecutive goals in a crucial Olympic match, leading India to victory. After that match, German dictator Hitler asked him about his military rank. When Dhyan Chand replied that he was a corporal, Hitler offered him a higher rank in the army, but he humbly declined. CM Dr. Yadav said that this incident inspires all players to remember that above everything else, we are Indians first, and must always strive to enhance India’s glory through our performance.
