Srinagar, Feb 21 (Reporter) A 24-year-old specially-abled man was charred to death while a commercial building and three residential houses were gutted in separate incidents in Kashmir valley overnight, Officials said on Friday.
They said a blaze erupted around 4 AM in a single-story house in Binner Batpora in Baramulla district, trapping the victim, identified as Zubair Ahmad. The flames spread rapidly, preventing family members from rescuing him.
The deceased’s body was shifted to Government Medical College Baramulla for medico-legal formalities.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
In another devastating fire incident that broke out at Malarutta Bohri Kadal in downtown Srinagar a five-storey commercial building and three residential houses were gutted during the wee hours of Friday.
The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the structures before firefighting teams managed to bring it under control. No one was injured in the incident.
Several firefighting engines were rushed to the spot from various fire stations in the city to control the leaping flames.
