Lucknow, Aug 18 (Reporter) Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Sunday opposed the Union Public Service Commission's (UPSC) decision of introducing lateral entry into the bureaucracy terming it to be against reservation. Taking to his X handle, SP Chief Akhilesh alleged that it was a big conspiracy against the country by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and warned to launch a nationwide movement against the move. He wrote, "The time has come to launch a nationwide movement against the conspiracy being hatched by the BJP to appoint its ideological allies to high government posts in UPSC through the back door." He claimed that this method would close the doors for today's officers as well as the youth to get higher posts in the present and future. "Common people will be limited to clerks and peons only," he said. The SP chief said, "In fact, the whole trick is to snatch reservation and rights from the PDA. Now that the BJP has come to know that the PDA across the country has woken up against the BJP's ploy to abolish the Constitution, it wants to deny reservation by making direct recruitment to such posts and giving some other excuse." He said, "The BJP government should immediately withdraw this because this is not in the interest of the country. The BJP wants to get arbitrary work done by keeping officers of its party ideology in the government. Such people who have become officers with the grace of the government can never be impartial. The integrity of such people will also always be questioned." Akhilesh alleged that officials and youth across the country are requested that if the BJP government does not withdraw it, then stand shoulder to shoulder with us in starting a new movement from October 2. "We will not tolerate the capture of the government machinery by the corporates because the capitalist thinking of the rich is to earn maximum profit. Such thinking depends on the exploitation of others, while our 'socialist thinking' is about the nourishment and welfare of the poor, farmers, labourers, employed, common people, doing their small work-business-shop," he added. He claimed, "This is a big conspiracy against the country." On the other hand, Mayawati wrote on X, "The decision of direct recruitment to 45 high posts of Joint Secretary, Director and Deputy Secretary at the centre is not correct, because the employees working on lower posts through direct recruitment will be deprived of the benefit of promotion." She said, "Along with this, if the people of SC, ST, and OBC categories are not given appointments in proportion to their quota in these government appointments, then it will be a direct violation of the Constitution. She said, "And filling these high posts with direct appointments without making any rules will be arbitrary on the part of the BJP government, which will be illegal and unconstitutional...////...
