Pune, June 3 (Reporter) The Southwest Monsoon advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh on Monday.
The rain-laden monsoon clouds advanced into some parts of Telangana and further into West-central and Northwest Bay of Bengal on June 3.
Conditions are favourable for further advance of the Monsoon into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Karnataka, some parts of south Maharashtra, Goa, remaining parts of Rayalaseema, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh, besides some parts of south Chhattisgarh and south Odisha, some more parts of Westcentral and northwest Bay of Bengal during next four-five days, the IMD said.
Day temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad; at isolated places Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
It was above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, coastal Karnataka, north interior Karnataka, Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra and Kutch, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
The temperatures were below normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and near normal over rest parts of the country.
On Sunday, the highest maximum temperature of 45.4°C was reported at Ganganagar (west Rajasthan).
Heatwave conditions prevailed at isolated pockets over central part of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. It has been prevailing over Haryana since May 17 and over Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh since May 18.
The Southwest Monsoon has been active over Assam and Meghalaya.
Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Assam and Meghalaya and Telangana and at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalseema, interior Karnataka and Kerala and at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.
Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh and Gujarat State.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, gusty winds likely at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.
