Shimla, April 21(Reporter) Uncertain weather conditions have disrupted normal life across Himachal Pradesh, with light snowfall in higher reaches and heavy rainfall lashing several parts of the state. The Lahaul-Spiti district, particularly around Manali and higher altitudes, witnessed fresh snowfall while low-lying areas, including Kinnaur, Udaipur, and Mandi, were hit by heavy rains and thunderstorms. Vehicular movement has been severely impacted due to landslides triggered by incessant rain. The Udaipur-Kilad road remains blocked due to a major landslide approximately 2 km before Kadu Nala and near the Jungle Camp area (km 74.400). Restoration work is currently underway near Nesang Jhula and between Bhagat Nala and Tinku Nala, but adverse weather continues to pose challenges. Authorities have urged the public to avoid traveling on the affected routes until further notice. According to reports from Police Chowki Hindi and PP Tindi, the Udaipur to Killar road is also closed due to landslides near Kadhu Nala. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has confirmed that clearing operations will begin on Monday, depending on weather conditions. The Meteorological Centre in Shimla issued a warning early Monday morning predicting light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-50 kmph) in districts including Shimla, Mandi, Hamirpur, Solan, and Sirmaur. Hailstorms were also reported in some isolated pockets. The weather department has advised residents to stay indoors, unplug electronic devices, and avoid sheltering under trees during lightning. The recent spell of precipitation has caused temperatures to dip by 3-4 degrees Celsius across several regions, intensifying the cold wave in the hill state. While the weather is expected to improve gradually over the day in most districts, light snow and rain may continue over Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and the higher reaches of Chamba and Kullu. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and travelers are advised to stay updated with official advisories and refrain from venturing into vulnerable areas...////...
