Bengaluru, April 29 (Reporter) Former Karnataka Chief Minister and seasoned politician SM Krishna, aged 91, has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment of a "minor ailment," as confirmed by the hospital authorities on Monday.
According to Manipal Hospital, where Krishna is currently undergoing treatment, the veteran leader is said to be in a "medically stable" condition and is showing positive signs of recovery. The hospital released a statement affirming that he is under the care of Dr. Satyanarayana Mysore along with a team of medical experts.
"The hospital confirms that SM Krishna is in a 'medically stable' condition. He is progressing positively in his recovery, and there is no cause for alarm," affirmed the hospital, offering reassurance about the BJP leader's health status.
This recent hospitalisation follows an earlier admission to a super-specialty hospital in Bengaluru earlier this month, where Krishna received treatment for an acute respiratory infection before being discharged.
Krishna, who held the position of Chief Minister of Karnataka from October 11, 1999, to May 28, 2004, boasts a distinguished political career. He also served as the External Affairs Minister during the tenure of the Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance government from 2009 to 2012, in addition to his role as Maharashtra Governor.
Krishna made headlines in March 2017 when he made the significant decision to join the BJP, marking the end of his nearly 50-year-long association with the Indian National Congress. Despite his retirement from active politics last year, Krishna remains a respected figure in Indian political circles.
