Shillong, July 10 (Reporter) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived in Meghalaya today on a four-day visit, during which she will review development initiatives and interact with beneficiaries.
Meghalaya Agriculture Minister Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh received Sitharaman at Ri Kynjai resort.
“Meghalaya is set to unveil a series of transformative infrastructure and development projects as part of its bold push for economic growth, sustainable tourism, digital inclusion, and women’s empowerment,” an official said.
The Finance Minister will inaugurate the newly redeveloped Polo Shopping Complex in the presence of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma followed by an interaction under the Project Monitoring Information System (PMIS).
On Friday, Sitharaman will inaugurate the Northeast Conclave and lay the foundation stone for the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) campus at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong in the presence of the Chief Minister.
The Finance Minister will also visit the Shillong Tech Park at Umsawli and also inaugurate an exhibition showcasing farmers and entrepreneurs at the Lariti International Centre for Performing Arts and Culture.
The Union Minister will also inspect the JN Stadium in Polo grounds.
On Saturday, Sitharaman will engage in an interaction with industry stakeholders at the Hotel Courtyard Marriott, Shillong.
Later in the day, the Finance Minister will interact with Women Self-Help Groups, Lakhpati Didis, and Farmer Producer Organisations at Laitkynsew village in East Khasi Hills district.
She will also interact with beneficiaries of the Payment for Ecosystem Services Program at Siej Village. Sitharaman's visit will conclude with a public programme at Sohbar Village, one of the 96 identified Vibrant Villages.
On the final day of her visit, on July 13, the Finance Minister will visit Ram Krishna Ashram School at Sohra.
