New Delhi, July 10 (Reporter) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today dismissed speculation over any change in leadership, declaring that there is “no vacancy” for the CM’s post and affirming that he will complete his five-year term in office.
Siddaramaiah reiterated that no discussion had taken place within the Congress party regarding any leadership change. “Even Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has made it clear that there is no vacancy for the CM post,” he told reporters.
When asked about the alleged 50:50 power-sharing formula, Siddaramaiah retorted that the question was being repeatedly asked in different forms.
On being asked whether he would lead the Congress in the 2028 Assembly polls, the Chief Minister said the high command will take a decision as they did in 2023 assembly election," Siddaramaiah said.
Responding to reports that Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala was holding one-on-one meetings with MLAs, Siddaramaiah said, “Please ask him the purpose. He has already clarified that there was no discussion on leadership.”
He also clarified that no meeting had been scheduled with senior party leaders Rahul Gandhi or Mallikarjun Kharge. “So far, no appointment has been given. There is no meeting planned today,” he said.
Asked about pending appointments to boards and corporations, Siddaramaiah said discussions were ongoing and decisions would be taken soon. “We are meeting party leaders and will decide after consultations,” he noted.
The Chief Minister ended by reasserting his position. “I am the sitting Chief Minister. There is no vacancy. DK Shivakumar himself has confirmed this,” he said...////...
