Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the three day International Gita Festival on Monday at Dussehra Maidan in Ujjain. He greeted everyone on the occasion of Gita Jayanti and said that all of us bow to Lord Shri Krishna, the teacher of the world. The festival is being organised in the State to understand and absorb the advice given by Lord Shri Krishna to deluded Arjun on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

The holy city of Ujjain has kept its importance in every age and every condition. Nearly 5,000 years ago, Lord Shri Krishna slew Kans, and afterwards came to Sandipani Ashram in Ujjain to receive learning from Maharshi Sandipani. At Sandipani Ashram, all disciples were taught alike without any discrimination. From birth Shri Krishna overcame many dangers and showed us how to face hardships with steadiness. After death of Kans, he handed the kingdom to his grandfather Ugrasen and came to Ujjain to study. His learning here shaped a character that influenced the entire world. Students of today should take inspiration from this and understand that learning holds highest place in life. Under the new education policy, the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita has been included in curriculum of some States and several others are taking steps to adopt it. The main purpose is to strengthen moral and cultural values among students.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Maharshi Sandipani recognised abilities of Lord Shri Krishna and gave him all his knowledge. Thereafter, Shri Krishna became teacher of the world. In teaching the path of Karma Yoga, he established dharma in the world and became the foremost guide of democratic order. In the war of Kurukshetra, the army of Shri Krishna fought on the side of the Kauravas though he himself stood with the Pandavas. His example teaches us to face adversity with courage. The Gita contains the essence of life and there is no scripture greater than it. It guides us to continue our duty even in difficult times. The Gita teaches us to remember God while performing our actions.
