Bengaluru, Jun 23 (Reporter) Amid intensifying political tremors over the Aishwarya Gowda gold fraud case, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday delivered a forceful response to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons issued to his brother, former MP DK Suresh - vowing to fight the probe “even without anyone's backing.”
Unfazed and unapologetic, Shivakumar hit out at what he suggested was selective targeting. “A case was filed against me- what happened then? Who came forward to protect us? No one,” he declared, speaking to reporters here.
Now, as the ED tightens its net in the high-stakes gold scam, Shivakumar dismissed the latest developments as attempts to craft political drama. “They say someone made a statement claiming fraud. Suresh is a public representative. He may visit his constituency, meet people, and cooperate however he wants. That doesn’t mean this needs to be blown out of proportion,” he said.
Shivakumar questioned the underlying motives behind the investigation’s narrative. “Let the ED ask what it needs to. Let the process take its course. But this doesn’t deserve to be projected as some grand saga,” he insisted.
The ED recently summoned DK Suresh in connection with the multi-crore gold scam involving Aishwarya Gowda - the alleged kingpin in a scandal that has quickly snowballed into a political flashpoint.
