Mumbai, Jan 11 (Reporter) The BSE Sensex remained positive for the third straight session on Thursday registering a small gain of 63.47 pts to close at 71,721.18 as buying was seen in Auto, Oil and Gas and Consumer Durable stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 28.50 pts at 21,647.20.
The NSE registered days high and low at 21,726.50 and 21,593.75 pts respectively.
The Sensex opened higher at 71,907.75, rising 250 pts. It was surged 342 pts at 71,999.47, days high before closing at 71721.18, up 63.47 pts from its previous close.
Buying in Auto, Oil and Gas and Consumer Durable stocks kept the market strong.
The Mid Cap rose by 0.66 pc and Small Cap by 0.79 pc.
In 30 scrips, 13 advanced while 17 declined.
The gainers were Reliance Industries by 2.58 pc to Rs 2718.40, Ultracemco by 1.54 pc to Rs 9928, Axis Bank by 1.38 pc to Rs 1122.65 and IndusInd Bank by 1.17 pc to Rs 1660.
The losers were Infosys by 1.62 pc to Rs 1495, Hind Unilever by 1.56 pc to Rs 2537.05, Wipro by 1.28 pc to Rs 448.05 and L& T by 1.18 pc to Rs 3505.20.
A mixed trend was seen in Asian Market.
Hang Seng was up by 1.26 pc and Taiwan Weighted by 0.45 pc.
While, Kospi fell by 0.07 pc and Jakarta Composite by 0.10 pc...////...
