Mumbai, Aug 22 (Reporter) The equity market remained firm for the third straight session on Thursday, as the BSE Sensex gained 147.89 pts to close at 81,053.19, getting a signal from the US Federal Reserve at least one rate cut during this year.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 41.30 pts at 24,811.50.
The market remained positive throughout the session, as the BSE opened on a strong note at 81,207.24, up 302 pts. It rallied 331 pts at 81,236.45, a day high, before closing at 81,053.19, advancing 147.89 pts from its previous close.
The NSE registered days high and low at 24,867.35 and 24,784.45 pts respectively.
The stocks that kept a rally intact were Telecommunication by 1.60 pc, 1 pc by Commodities, Consumer Durable by 0.90 pc, and BSE Services by 0.70 pc.
The Mid-cap rose by 0.67 pc and Small-cap by 0.47 pc.
In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.
The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 1.60 pc to Rs 1487.65, Tata Steel by 1.38 pc to Rs 154, ICICI Bank to Rs 1190.90 and Titan by 1 pc to Rs 3595.40.
The losers were M & M by 1.20 pc to Rs 2736.90, NTPC to Rs 403.80, Tata Motors by 1.16 pc to Rs 1072.50 and TCS by 1.13 pc to Rs 4500.25...////...
