Sensex tanks 885.60 pts

Mumbai, Aug 2 (Reporter) Snapping a winning streak of last four sessions, the BSE Sensex dropped 885.60 pts to settle at 80,981.95 following a global selloff Similarly, disappointing data in the world's largest economy too dampened the sentiments of the investors. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 293.20 pts at 24,717.70. With yesterday all time high, the BSE Sensex opened on a weak note at 81,158.99, fell 709 pts. During the day it was ranked 1059 pts at 80,868, days low, before closing at 80,981.95, slumping 88.60 pts from its previous close. Stocks that dragged the market were Realty by 3.56 pc, Metal by 3 pc, Auto by 2.97 pc and Commodities by 1.83 pc. The Mid Cap slipped 1.19 pc and Small Cap fell by 0.58 pc. The losers were Maruti Suzuki by 4.94 pc to Rs 12690, Tata Motors by 4.42 pc to Rs 1094, JSW Steel by 3.92 pc to Rs 897.45, L& T by 3.09 pc to Rs 3659.55 and JSW Steel by 2.85 pc to Rs 158.40. The gainers were HDFC Bank by 1.10 pc to Rs 1658.50, Sun Pharma by 0.60 pc to Rs 1726.20, Nestle India Ltd by 0.48 pc to Rs 2996. Asian market was fell asleep Strait Times slipped by 1.14 pc, Hang Seng by 2.12 pc, Taiwan Weighted by 4.64 and Kospi by 3.79 pc...////...
