Mumbai, June 5 (Reporter) Slumping over 4000 points on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex smartly recovered 2303.19 points to close at 74,382.24 on the strength of the telecommunications, BSE services, metal, and FMCG stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) jumped 735.85 points to 22,620.35.
The NSE registered days high and low at 22670.40 and 21797 pts, respectively.
The day opened on a strong note at 73,027.88 pts. During the day, it spiked 2445 points to 74534.82, days high, before closing at 74,382.24, up 2303.19 points from its previous close.
In 30 scrips, 29 advanced while 1 declined.
The midcap rose by 4.41 pc and the small cap by 2.93 pc.
The stocks that lifted the market were Telecommunications by 6.01 pc, BSE Services by 5.74 pc, Metal by 5.36 pc, and FMCG by 4.52 pc.
The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 7.14 pc to Rs 1492.20, Tata Steel by 6.36 pc to Rs 168.90, M&M by 6 pc to Rs 2730, and Bajaj Finance by 5.06 pc to Rs 6837.50.
The sole loser was L&T by 0.08 pc to Rs 3400...////...
