Mumbai, June 4 (Reporter) Snapping the three-day losing streak, BSE Sensex on Wednesday rose by 260.74 pts to settle at 80,998.25 on positive cues from global peers.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) advanced by 34.10 pts to 24,716.60.
BSE Sensex today opened in green at 81,214.42 up by 44.30 pts. Sensex recorded the day high of 81087.29 and low of 80705.18
The NSE registered a day's high at 24,644.25 and a day's low at 24,550.45 pts.
In sectoral indices, except realty and banks which were down by 0,77 pc and 0.03 pc respectively, all other Indices ended the session on a positive note with telecommunication being the top sectoral gainer -- up by1.35 pc followed by utilities, tech, energy, commodities, industrial and healthcare.
Metal declined by 0.58 pc followed by IT by 0.57 pc, consumer durable by 0.40 pc, and energy by 0.13 pc.
The mid-cap rose 0.76 pc and the small-cap moved up by 0.58 pc.
In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.
The top five gainers were Eternal by 3.20 pc to Rs 245.20, Indus bank by 1.94 pc to Rs 815.75, Bharti Airtel by 1.66 pc to Rs 1872.00, Tech Mahindra by 1.25 pc to Rs 1562.90 and Reliance by 1.10 pc to Rs 1421.45
The top five losers were Bajaj FinServ by 1.66 pc to rs 1958.25, Axis Bank by 0.77 pc to Rs 1172.50, TCS by 0.71 pc to Rs 3381.00, LT by 0.62 pc to Rs 3622.50 and Titan by 0.59 pc to Rs 3500.20.
The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2,080 shares rose and 1,925 shares fell. A total of 155 shares were unchanged.
Most Asian shares ended higher following a tech-led rally on Wall Street, The Kospi surged over 2 pc.
In the US, all three major indices closed higher. The S&P 500 rose 0.58PC, the Dow added 0.51PC , and the Nasdaq outperformed with a 0.81 pc gain...////...
