Mumbai, Oct 18 (Reporter) Snapping a losing streak of the last three sessions, the BSE Sensex on Friday recovered 218.14 pts to close at 81,224.75 on the strength of Bankex, Metal and Financial services stocks amid positive Asian Market.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 104.20 pts at 24,854.05.
The Sensex slipped 257 pts to open at 80,749.26. It was tanked 597 pts at 80,409.25 during the day. In late trade, it erased earlier losses and finished positive at 81,224.75, up 218.14 pts from its last close.
The NSE registered days high and low at 24,886.20 and 24,567.65 pts respectively.
The stocks that lifted the market were Metal by 1.65 pc, Bankex by 1.84 pc, and Financial Services by 1.12 pc.
The Mid-cap rose by 0.21 pc while the Small-cap fell by 0.16 pc.
In 30 scrips, 19 advanced, while 11 declined.
The gainers were Axis Bank by 5.61 pc to Rs 1195.70, ICICI Bank by 2.80 pc to Rs 1267, Tata Motors by 2.21 pc to Rs 911.40, NTPC by 1.90 pc to Rs 425.40 and Tata Steel by 1.87 pc to Rs 155.20.
The losers were Infosys by 4.39 pc to Rs 1883.05, Asian Paints by 1.89 pc to Rs 3000, Nestle India Ltd 1.20 pc to Rs 2351.05, and Tech Mahindra by 0.91 pc to Rs 1684.
In Asian Market, Straits Times was up by 0.41 pc, Hang Seng by 3.48 pc and Jakarta Composite by 0.32 pc...////...
