Mumbai, Aug 20 (Reporter) The BSE Sensex on Tuesday surged 378.18 pts to close positive at 80,802.86 pts on strong global cues. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 126.20 pts at 24,698.85. Declining 12 pts on Monday, the equity market rebounded in opening trade at 80,722.54, rising 298 pts. It remained in green throughout the session. During the day the Sensex registered a day high at 20,942.96, spurting 518 pts, before closing at 80,802.86, up 378.18 pts from its previous close. The stocks that pushed the market were Financial services by 1.19 pc, Utilities by 1.07 pc, IT by 0.76 pc and Power by 0.80 pc. The Mid-cap rose by 0.98 pc and Small-cap by 0.52 pc. In 30 scrips, 24 advanced while 6 declined. The gainers were Bajaj Finserv by 3.25 pc to Rs 1602.30, IndusInd Bank by 2.29 pc to Rs 1378.50, Tech Mahindra by 2.12 pc to Rs 1628.40 and Bajaj Finance by 1.57 pc to Rs 6722.85. The losers were Bharti Airtel by 1.37 pc to Rs 1449.35, ITC by 0.46 pc to Rs 498.85, and Adani Ports by 0.27 pc to Rs 1492.25. Asian Market remained strong as Strait Times was up by 0.44 pc, Kospi by 0.83 pc, and Taiwan Weighted by 0.09 pc...////...
