Mumbai, May 2 (Reporter) The BSE Sensex on Friday surged 259.75 pts to close positive at 80,501.99 on the strength of IT, Energy and Oil and Gas stocks amid positive global cues. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose marginally 12.50 pts at 24,346.70. Easing 46 pts on Wednesday, the equity market today rose 58 pts to open at 80,300.19 pts. During the day it spurted 935 pts at 81,177.93, days high. In late trade, it was slipped but ended positive only at 80,501.99, up 259.75 pts from its previous close. Meanwhile, it declined 74 pts at 80,168.59, days low. The Nifty registered days high at 24,589.15 and low at 24,238.50 pts. Stocks that pushed the market up were BSE Services by 1.67 pc followed by Oil and Gas by 0.69 pc, Energy by 0.59 pc and IT by 0.45 pc. The Mid cap fell 0.41 pc and Small cap by 0.07 pc. The gainers were Adani Ports by 4.35 pc to Rs 1,270, Bajaj Finance by 2.70 pc to Rs 8,869.10, IndusInd Bank by 1.44 pc to Rs 798 and Tata Motors by 1.20 pc to Rs 651.90. The losers were Nestle India Ltd by 2 28 pc to Rs 2,331.10, NTPC by 1.69 pc to Rs 348.50, Kotak Bank by 1.36 pc to Rs 2,175.90 and Titan by 1.36 pc to Rs 3,330.20. US Market and European market remained positive. Even, Asian Market too remained strong as Hang Seng was up by 1.71 pc, Kospi by 0.12 pc, Set Composite 0.14 pc and Taiwan Weighted by 0.66 pc...////...
