Sensex drops 808.65 pts

Mumbai, Oct 4 (Reporter) Extending losses for the fifth consecutive session on Friday, the BSE Sensex tanked 808.65 pts to close below 82K at 81,688.45 following tensions in the Middle East, where the conflict between Iran and Israel has intensified. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 200.25 pts at 25,049.85. With this, the Sensex which was on top on last week, nosedived over 5 per cent. Apart from geographical tension, rising crude oil prices and outflows from foreign institutional investors impacted the equity market. The Sensex opened low at 82,244.25, fell 253 pts. During the day, it was lost ground by 965 pts at 81,532.68, days low, before closing at 81,688.45, sinking 808.65 pts from its previous close. The NSE registered days high and low at 25,485.05 and 24,966.80 pts respectively. The stocks that plummeted were FMCG by 1.67 pc, Realty by 1.60 pc, Auto by 1.50 pc and Telecommunications by 1.25 pc. The Mid cap fell 0.94 pc and Small cap by 0.80 pc. In 30 scrips, 8 advanced, while 22 declined. The losers were M& M by 3.65 pc to Rs 3015, Bajaj Finance by 3.01 pc to Rs 7209.65, Nestle India Ltd by 2.85 pc to Rs 2599.30, Asian paints by 2.49 pc to Rs 3011.85 and Bharti Airtel by 2.09 pc to Rs 1640.75. The gainers were Infosys by 1.33 pc to Rs 1918.35, Tech Mahindra by 0.83 pc to Rs 1616.50, Tata Motors by 0.51 pc to Rs 930.70 and Axis Bank by 0.50 pc to Rs 1181.38. Asian Market was witnessed a mixed trend, as Strait Times was up 0.33 pc and Hang Seng by 2.74 pc. While, Taiwan Weighted fell 0.39 pc and Jakarta Composite by 0.64 pc...////...
