Mumbai, Feb 10 (Reporter) Extending losses for the fourth consecutive session on Monday, the BSE Sensex dropped 548.39 pts to settle at 77,311.80 after the announcement of new tarrif on US Steel and aluminium import by Trump government.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 178.35 pts at 23,381.60.
The equity market remained negative throughout the session, as the Sensex slipped 71 pts to open at 77,789.30. During the period it tanked 754 pts at 77,106.89, days low, before closing at 77,311.80, tumbling down 548.39 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered a day-high and low at 23,568.60 and 23,316.30 pts respectively.
The stocks that fell were Realty by 2.69 pc, Metal by 2.63 pc, Utilities by 2.49 pc and Power by 2.42 pc.
The Mid-cap declined by 2.06 pc and Small-cap by 2.25 pc.
In 30 scrips, 6 advanced while 26 declined.
The losers were Powergrid by 3.45 pc to Rs 268.70, Tata Steel by 3.18 pc to Rs 133.90, Zomato by 2.87 pc to Rs 227.15, Titan by 2.83 pc to Rs 3327.10 and Bajaj Finance by 2.15 pc to Rs 8288.55.
The gainers were Kotak Bank by 1.34 pc to Rs 1962, Bharti Airtel by 0.97 pc to Rs 1694, HCL Technology by 0.50 pc to Rs 1734.75 and ICICI Bank by 0.48 pc to Rs 1262.90.
A mixed trend was seen in the Asian Market, as Strait Times was up by 0.35 pc and Hang Seng by 0.80 pc while Taiwan Weighted fell by 0.97 pc and ST Composite by 0.91 pc...////...
