Sensex at new high of 79,489

Mumbai, June 28 (Reporter) The BSE Sensex on Friday remained at a new peak on Friday too, climbing 246 points to 79,489 in the opening trade on the strength of metal, oil, gas, and energy stocks. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 85.60 points to 24,130. Today is the fifth consecutive session as the equity market remained firm. The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 78,671.58 and 77,308.78 points, respectively. The NSE registered days high and low at 24,174 and 24,062.85 pts, respectively. The Mid cap rose 0.57 pc while Small Cap by 0.75 pc. In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined. The gainers were Tata Motors by 1.95 pc to Rs 991, SBI by 1.76 pc to Rs 859, Reliance Industries by 1.45 pc to Rs 3105.40, NTPC by 1.37 pc to Rs 381.50, and Tata Steel by 1.21 pc to Rs 176.25. The losers were IndusInd Bank by 1.38 pc to Rs 1482, Bharti Airtel by 0.92 pc to Rs 1458.25, HCL Technology by 0.77 pc to Rs 1445, and Kotak Bank by 0.68 pc to Rs 1818.30...////...
