Srinagar, May 19 (Reporter) Former legislator Mohammad Amin Bhat has resigned from the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), led by former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Bhat, who was serving as the provincial president of the DPAP, confirmed his resignation.
“Yes, I resigned from DPAP on Sunday as this party was not visible on the ground. I have a meeting today and will decide about my future,” Bhat told UNI. He represented the Devsar constituency in south Kashmir in the 2014 Assembly elections.
While he did not disclose his future plans, sources suggest that Bhat is likely to return to the Congress, the party he left in 2022 after Azad launched his own regional party.
Bhat had been among the early supporters of Azad when he floated the DPAP, projecting it as an alternative political force in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, the party has struggled to gain a strong foothold in J&K. In recent months, several senior leaders and founding members have quit the DPAP, many of them rejoining the Congress.
Following poor performance in J&K Assembly polls, Azad dissolved all DPAP organizational units — including the state, provincial, district, and block committees — as well as the panel of spokespersons. The move was seen as an attempt to restructure the party...////...
