Singapore/New Delhi, Sep 5 (Reporter) Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said the MoU on Semiconductor Partnership inked with India following talks with PM Modi would allow both sides to explore mutually beneficial collaborations.
In a post on X, the Singapore PM said:
“India is keen to learn from our experience and to have our companies participate in their industry development. We have just signed an MOU which will allow both sides to explore mutually beneficial collaborations.
“Singapore and India are strengthening our cooperation in new areas, such as advanced manufacturing and semiconductors. I accompanied PM @narendramodi on a visit to AEM, a
Singapore-based company focussing on the testing of semiconductor chips.”
After visiting the AEM Holdings company, PM Modi posted on X:
“Semiconductors and technology are important facets of India-Singapore cooperation. This is also a sector where India is increasing its presence. Today, PM Wong and I visited AEM Holdings Ltd. We look forward to working together in this sector and giving our youth more opportunities.”
During their visit to AEM, a leading Singaporean company in semiconductor and electronics sector, the two leaders were briefed about AEM’s role in global semiconductor value chain, its operations and plans for India.
The Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association gave a briefing on the development of semiconductor ecosystem in Singapore and opportunities for collaboration with India. Representatives of several other Singaporean companies from this sector were also present, a statement said.
Prime Minister Modi invited the Singaporean semiconductor companies to participate in SEMICON INDIA exhibition to be held in Greater Noida on Sep 11-13, a statement said.
Given our efforts to develop semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India and Singapore’s strengths in this sector, both sides have decided to expand bilateral cooperation.
During the Second meeting of the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable, both sides agreed to add Advanced Manufacturing, with focus on semiconductors, as a pillar for enhancing bilateral cooperation. Both sides have also concluded the MoU on India-Singapore Semiconductor Ecosystem Partnership today.
At the facility, the two Prime Ministers also interacted with Indian interns from Odisha’s World Skill Center undergoing training in Singapore as well as Singaporean interns who had visited India under the CII-Enterprise Singapore India Ready Talent Programme and Indian engineers working at AEM.
This visit by both the Prime Ministers underscores the commitment of both sides to develop cooperation in this area. Prime Minister Modi conveyed his appreciation to Prime Minister Wong for joining him in this visit...////...
