SC extends interim bail granted to M Sivasankar, former Secy to Kerala CM

New Delhi, Jan 9 (Reporter) The Supreme Court on Tuesday extended the interim bail granted earlier to M Sivasankar, former Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Kerala, who was arrested in connection with the LIFE Mission corruption case. A bench comprising Justice MM Sundresh and Justice SVN Bhatti, while extending the interim bail listed the matter for next week. Sivasankar has moved the Supreme Court against the rejection of his bail plea by the Kerala High Court in April last year. Appearing for Sivasankar' Senior Advocate Jayanth Muth Raj said that the interim bail granted to his client should be extended on medical grounds. The Senior Advocate said that, though he was granted interim bail earlier to be taken to JIPMER Medical Hospital, Pondicherry for evaluating his medical condition, he could get into the hospital only yesterday. On August 02, 2023, a Supreme Court Bench of Justices AS Bopanna and MM Sundresh had granted him interim bail on medical grounds for 2 months, considering that he had been advised spine surgery and would also require post-operative treatment. The interim relief was extended on September 25, 2023, November 29, 2023, and December 08, 2023. Today, a request was made before the court to list the matter for final disposal of the matter challenging the rejection of his bail plea by the Kerala High Court in April last year.
