New Delhi, Jan 11 (Reporter) The Supreme Court on Thursday extended the interim bail granted last year to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik by another six months
A bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice Pankaj Mithal granted the relief after hearing the reply of Additional Solicitor-General SV Raju who said that the request of Nawab Malik may be considered and on medical grounds, an extension may be given.
The bench said since the additional solicitor-general has no objection the Interim bail is extended for a further period of six months. The court listed the matter after six months.
The senior NCP leader was initially granted interim bail on medical grounds for two months in August last year. This was later extended by three months in October after the court was informed that the former minister's health had not improved since the last order and he was undergoing treatment for kidney-related and other ailments at a private hospital in Mumbai. The Enforcement Directorate did not object to the court granting Malik relief on either occasion.
Malik was arrested on February 23, 2022, by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in a money laundering case...////...
