New Delhi, May 14 (Reporter) In a significant stride towards fostering regional cooperation and academic excellence, H.E. Md. Golam Sarwar, Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), paid a visit to the South Asian University (SAU) on Tuesday. Upon his arrival at SAU's Maidan Garhi Campus, Secretary General Sarwar was warmly greeted by university officials and students representing diverse South Asian countries. His visit underscored SAARC's commitment to advancing educational collaboration within the region. During his engagement with SAU President Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, Secretary General Sarwar received an insightful overview of the university's journey, its recent programme initiatives, and future growth prospects. Expressing admiration for SAU's rapid progress, he lauded the institution as a flagship endeavour of SAARC, emphasising its pivotal role in promoting regional integration. Secretary General Sarwar extended gratitude to the Government of India for its steadfast support of SAU's development endeavors. He particularly commended the appointment of a distinguished academician and visionary leader, Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, as the university's president. Highlighting SAU's contribution to fostering cross-border cooperation and academic excellence, Secretary General Sarwar advocated for the introduction of more interdisciplinary courses catering to the common interests of SAARC member countries. Engaging with the university's academic leadership, Secretary General Sarwar pledged unwavering support for advancing SAU's mission and objectives. His visit culminates on the last day of his official trip to India, signifying the importance attached to SAARC's collaborative initiatives.
