Mumbai, June 23 (Reporter) The rupee on Monday depreciated by 10 paise at 86.69 in the opening session on strong dollar demand by bankers and importers as global crude oil prices surged following the US's attack on Iran's nuclear sites, forex traders said.
A lower opening in the domestic equity market also put pressure on the rupee, the trader added.
The currency opened 16 paise lower at 86.75 against the dollar. It closed the previous session at 86.59.
