Patna, July 22 (Reporter) The Bihar Assembly was adjourned till lunch today following an uproar by the opposition over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. As soon as the House assembled for the day and Speaker Nandkishor Yadav took up the Question Hour proceedings, opposition members began vociferously protesting against the SIR and the prevailing law and order issues. Dressed in black as a mark of protest, they shouted slogans demanding the immediate withdrawal of the SIR. Waving placards and banners, they stormed into the Well of the House, creating a noisy scene. The Speaker repeatedly appealed to the protesting members to return to their seats and allow the House to function smoothly in the public interest. However the questions and the reply could not be heard properly due to the pandemonium. The opposition, meanwhile, continued to chant slogans against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and urged the Speaker to accept their adjournment motion notice, seeking to suspend the day’s listed business to discuss their concerns. Despite the commotion, the Speaker attempted to continue the Question Hour proceedings. However, due to the pandemonium, neither the questions nor the responses could be heard clearly. Amid the chaos, some opposition members reportedly tried to overturn the reporter’s desk and chair. The Speaker sternly warned them against such actions, saying it could injure Assembly staff. He also criticized their conduct, stating it was tarnishing their public image. In an effort to restore order, the Speaker offered one of the opposition members a chance to speak—provided they returned to their seats. The opposition members did not budge even an inch and continue to create noise from the well of the house and installed the question hour proceedings. Despite repeated efforts to restore order, the Speaker was unable to calm the situation. With the ruckus continuing unabated, he adjourned the House within 21 minutes, until lunch...////...
