Rubio, Ishaq Dar hold talks on counter-terrorism measures

Islamabad, Apr 8 (Reporter) The United States and Pakistan established first high-level contact when Secretary of State Marco Rubio held detailed talks with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, discussing a wide range of issues, including jointly addressing the menace of terrorism. Rubio emphasised the need to strengthen cooperation between the law enforcement agencies to check illegal immigration. On his part, Dar raised the issue of weapons left by US troops in Afghanistan that have fallen into the hands of various terror groups. The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral ties, economic cooperation, and regional security. This was the first direct contact between the two leaders since Rubio took charge of the Secretary of State. Dar emphasised close cooperation in counter-terrorism measures and trade issues.
