Bengaluru, May 7 (Reporter) Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Wednesday announced the inclusion of Mayank Agarwal as a replacement for Devdutt Padikkal, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a right hamstring injury. The southpaw, an integral part of RCB’s batting lineup, has been the side’s second-highest run-scorer this season, amassing 247 runs from 10 innings at a strike rate of 150.60, including two half-centuries. In a homecoming of sorts, Bengaluru-born Mayank Agarwal returns to the franchise where he began his IPL career, over a decade ago. The seasoned right-hander has featured in 127 IPL matches, compiling 2,661 runs with one century and 13 fifties to his credit. He has joined RCB for a fee of Rs 1 crore. "It's really unfortunate to lose Devdutt at this stage of the tournament, especially after the impact he’s had this season. He’s been a key part of our top order. We wish him a speedy recovery. At the same time, we’re pleased to welcome Mayank Agarwal to RCB. His experience and versatility will prove valuable for us as we head into the business end of the season," said Mo Bobat, Director of Cricket, RCB. RCB, who are still in contention for a place in the playoffs, will conclude their league stage with fixtures against Lucknow Super Giants (May 9 in Lucknow), Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 13 in Bengaluru), and Kolkata Knight Riders (May 17 in Bengaluru)...////...
