Jaipur, June 4 (Reporter) Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde on Wednesday highlighted that environmental issues are not spontaneous and require collective efforts to protect the environment.
He was addressing the 'World Environment Day Summit 2025' organized by Rajasthan Environment and Energy Conservation in Jaipur.
Governor Bagde stressed the importance of planting trees that provide ample shade and oxygen, highlighting the benefits of banyan and peepal trees that release oxygen round the clock.
The Governor also honoured individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental conservation. He underscored that afforestation is crucial for rainfall and urged people to work together to conserve water, forests, and land. He suggested that efforts should be made to harvest rainwater, which would help recharge groundwater.
Bagde called for creating water-sufficient villages by adopting measures to retain rainwater. He cited successful initiatives in Maharashtra as examples. As Chancellor, he has written to universities to plant trees in vacant spaces, promoting self-initiated tree plantation drives in offices and public spaces.
The Governor reiterated the need to plant large trees that can thrive and provide maximum benefits for environmental conservation, rather than focusing on numbers.
Urban Development Minister Jhabarmal Kharra urged the youth to take the lead in tree plantation, water conservation, and sanitation initiatives, stressing the importance of creating awareness among the new generation about environmental conservation...////...
