Rajanna seeks clarity on Shivakumar’s KPCC presidency

New Delhi, Feb 14 (Reporter) Karnataka Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna on Friday urged the Congress high command to clarify the status of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar as the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President. Rajanna stated that the party had earlier decided that Shivakumar would retain the KPCC presidency until the parliamentary elections. With the elections now concluded, he suggested the arrangement be revisited. Speaking to reporters, Rajanna said, "Following the assembly elections in May 2023, the Congress central leadership had stated that Shivakumar would serve as both Deputy Chief Minister and state unit president until the completion of the Lok Sabha elections." "Since the Lok Sabha elections concluded in June 2024, I have requested the party's top leadership to clarify whether Shivakumar will remain in the position or if a new president will be appointed," he said. Rajanna mentioned that he had no objections if the leadership chose to retain Shivakumar as the state president, emphasizing that the final decision rested with the party high command. He also reiterated his proposal to appoint three additional Deputy Chief Ministers representing the Veerashaiva-Lingayat, Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, and minority communities, to ensure wider representation in the state's leadership.
