New Delhi, Sep 3 (Reporter) Delhi Environment Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Rai on Tuesday requested suggestions on reducing pollution in the National Capital from the presidents of Delhi BJP and Congress for incorporation into the Winter Action Plan.
In a letter to Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav, Rai highlighted, “The pollution in Delhi has decreased by about 30% over the last nine years, even as it rises in other cities across the country.”
Emphasising that pollution can be reduced only with everyone's cooperation, not by opposition, the Minister said, “Delhi government preparing the Winter Action Plan focused on three key points that are actions by Delhi, cooperation with neighbouring states, and collaboration with the central government to reduce winter pollution.”
He further mentioned the Centre for Science and Environment report highlighting, “Only 31% of Delhi's pollution is caused locally; the rest comes from NCR states.”
“The Delhi government is actively reducing air pollution through long- and short-term plans, including successful "Summer" and "Winter Action Plans" in collaboration with all departments,” he said...////...
