New Delhi, Feb 2 (Reporter) Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for betraying and letting down the people of Delhi for the past 10 years.
Addressing a public meeting at Hauz Qazi Chowk here, Rahul Gandhi said that the BJP used to say during the Lok Sabha elections that if it got more than 400 seats, it would change the Constitution, but the people did not let them do that.
"But Congress will never allow the Constitution to be changed," he asserted and said that the Constitution protects every section of the country.
He alleged that for a long time, PM Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat have been trying to weaken the Constitution.
Gandhi alleged, "The RSS chief said that the country did not get independence on August 15, 1947, but when Modi became the Prime Minister.
"This statement clearly shows that the RSS chief does not believe in the Constitution and wants to abolish it," he claimed.
The senior Congress leader also reiterated his charge that Prime Minister Modi and the RSS work to spread hatred.
He accused Modi of dividing the people, by making them fight among themselves, while putting public money into the pockets of billionaires like Gautam Adani.
He said that Modi waived loans of 25 billionaires worth Rs 16 lakh crore.
"Modi has destroyed small businesses through demonetisation and GST," he alleged and claimed that every plan of Modi is aimed at helping billionaires, while the youth of the country are not getting jobs, and the prices of essential commodities are rising.
Asserting that India is a country of harmony and not hatred, he said, "Mahatma Gandhi will be remembered even hundreds of years from now, while nobody will remember Narendra Modi once he steps down. India does not remember hatred and violence. India will remember Gandhi, will never remember Godse," he remarked.
Taking a dig at Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi said that he had promised to bring a new kind of politics and eradicate corruption but ended up committing the biggest scam.
Showing the dirty water of Delhi in a bottle, the senior Congress leader said that Kejriwal had also promised to clean the Yamuna River within five years. Kejriwal had even promised to drink Yamuna water.
Rahul Gandhi challenged Kejriwal to drink a glass of the water he supplies to the people of Delhi. "Kejriwal will reach hospital after drinking this water," he remarked.
Holding up a poster of Team Kejriwal, he pointed out that none of these nine AAP leaders belong to the Dalit, backward, tribal, or minority communities.
Rahul Gandhi said that Kejriwal was nowhere to be seen during the Delhi violence. He quipped that initially, Kejriwal came in a small Wagon-R car and climbed up an electric pole. From there, he directly reached the Sheesh Mahal worth crores of rupees.
"Like Narendra Modi, Kejriwal also makes false promises," he said.
Gandhi further said that Congress is the only party that protects the public. "Wherever the public will be intimidated, Rahul Gandhi will be found there," he assured.
He appealed to the people to make Congress candidates win with a huge number of votes, reminding them of the Congress government under the leadership of Sheila Dikshit, which did a lot of development in Delhi...////...
