Kolkata, Jan 31 (Reporter) Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's car was vandalised on Wednesday when his entourage was entering West Bengal's Malda district from Bihar's Katihar, State Congress unit President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said.
Gandhi was safe and there was no injury either to anybody, Chowdhury told reporters.
He said, " I don't know who pelted with stones but our leader Rahul has been subjected to insult and apathy of the state administration since his entry into Cooch Behar from Assam on January 24, " the Congress leader said.
The rear windowpane of the vehicle, being used by the former Congress President, has been completely shattered.
A purported video footage showed Gandhi checking his vandalised car and calmly moving ahead to talk to the local people at Harishchandrapur in West Bengal's Malda district.
It was not immediately known if Gandhi was in the car when it was hit by stones.
Television footage showed the Wayanad MP was alighting from the vehicle after reaching a designated halt and inspecting the damaged windowpane.
"The rear window pane of the vehicle Rahul Gandhi was travelling in was smashed after being pelted with stones... this is unacceptable, " Chowdhury said...////...
