Punjab: SKM burnt effigies of PM, HM and Haryana CM in front of BJP office

Hoshiarpur (Punjab), Feb 23 (Reporter) The farmers, under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) led by SKM member Harbans Sangha on Friday burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in front of BJP office in protest against the recent police action on farmers on the Haryana-Punjab border. The protest aimed to pressure the Union government to accept their demands, which include seeking a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their crops, a loan waiver, implementation of the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, pensions for farmers and labourers, and withdrawal of police cases, among others. Mr Sangha stated that farmers' are planning to hold a symbolic tractor march towards Delhi on February 26 to further pressure the Union government. The tractor march will move towards Phagwara and after a two-hour stay it will return. Additionally, farmers intend to participate in large numbers in a Maha Panchayat scheduled for March 16 in the national capital, aiming to increase pressure on the Union government to resolve their demands...////...
