Punjab: Sacrilege incident reported in Hoshiarpur village, FIR registered

Hoshiarpur, Apr 18 (Reporter) An incident of sacrilege was reported from village Nurpur Jattan under the jurisdiction of Mahilpur Police Station in Hoshiarpur district on Friday, police said. According to SI Parwinderjit Singh, around 15 Angs (pages) of the holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib were found torn inside the village Gurdwara early this morning. SP (Inv.) Mukesh Kumar stated that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in connection with the sacrilege. He added that police teams are examining CCTV footage from the Gurdwara and surrounding areas to identify the culprits, and further investigations are underway. Former MLA and Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader Surinder Singh Bhulewal Rathan said that the act of desecrating the sacred scripture has deeply hurt the religious sentiments not only of the villagers but also of the wider Sikh community. He demanded the arrest of those responsible for the sacrilege at the earliest and strict punishment for them...////...
