Chandigarh, Mar 20 (Reporter) In a decisive action against drug financing, Tarn Taran police have busted a drug and hawala syndicate, leading to the arrest of five persons and the recovery of illegal weapons, narcotics, and cash, said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav here on Thursday. DGP Yadav said during the operation, the accused opened fire at the police party. Two accused sustained injuries. He said that subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Iqbal Singh, a key facilitator of hawala transactions linked to Dubai-based drug cartels. He has confessed to channeling Rs 50 crore over the last three months to support cross-border drug smuggling.
