Punjab meets highest ever power demand of 3563 lakh units

Chandigarh, Jun 27 (Reporter) Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Thursday said the state has met its all-time highest power demand of 3563 Lakh Units (LUs) on June 26. The previous highest power demand in a single day was 3427 LUs on September 9 last year. He said Punjab had also met its all-time highest ever peak demand of 15933 Mega Watt on June 19, against the peak demand of 15325 MW recorded on June 23 last year. The Minister informed that the power demand has been persistently high during this summer season and Punjab has successfully met 28 per cent an additional power demand in June 2024 in comparison to the corresponding period of last year (7464 MUs till June 26, as against 5853 MUs till the same day last year. He also added that PSPCL supplied 7231 MUs during May 2024 which is 37 per cent more from 5270 MUs supplied during May last year. The Minister said the state government met the highest ever demand of electricity without imposing any power cuts on domestic, commercial and industrial consumers and maximum AP supply is being given to the agriculture consumers in the state...////...
