Punjab govt doctors call off agitation

Chandigarh, Jan 20 (Reporter) The Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) on Monday announced immediate withdrawal of its agitation and protest after the state government issued a notification reinstating the Assured Career Progression Scheme (ACPs). PCMSA chief Akhil Sarin, expressed gratitude and thanked Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh and Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Kumar Rahul for their unwavering efforts in resolving critical issues affecting public healthcare in the state. The association stated that the reinstatement of ACPs is a significant step toward retaining doctors in the department and strengthening Punjab's public healthcare system. The association also acknowledged the health department’s initiatives to recruit 304 Medical Officers and rationalise the postgraduate policy to attract young doctors to the PCMS cadre. These measures were among PCMSA's key demands. However, PCMSA emphasised the urgency of releasing a draft security framework to address safety concerns in public healthcare facilities.
